FP1 Topic 3: Complex numbers
Conjugate complex roots backmore
If z is a root of f(z) = 0 then the complex conjugate z* is also a root.

Summary
When solving a quadratic equation ax2+bx+c = 0 which will not factorise, you should use the formula:
  • quadratic formula
When the roots are complex, they are in fact complex conjugates, ie., of the form a+bi and a-bi.
