D. Elementary algebra, including multiplying out brackets, factorising quadratics with integer coefficients (to include a²-b²) and solution of simultaneous linear equations by eliminating a variable.
Good algebra skills are essential for A Level, and these can only be developed by practice. This section contains probably the most important techniques you need to master before starting A Level. Make sure you can multiply out brackets and factorise quadratic functions quickly and confidently. The activities marked Coded contain an activity that, when completed, will give you a code as a form of "proof" that you have done it. Make sure you write it down accurately.

D1: Multiplying out brackets Expand (x+a)(x+b)
Expand (x-a)(x+b)
Expand (cx-a)(dx+b)
