| Velocity-time graphs 2 | |
| The graph
below shows velocity plotted against time. The motion has three
stages. Stage 1. The particle travels from rest with accleration a ms-1 for a period of b seconds. Stage 2. The particle travels at constant velocity from t = b to t=c seconds. Stage 3. The particle travels with constant deceleration d ms-1 until it stops. The area under the graph represents the total distance travelled. |
|
| Find the total time taken and distance travelled in these cases: |
| When a = 3 ms-2, b=3 seconds, c = 6 seconds, d = -2 ms-1 |
| When a = 3 ms-2, b=4 seconds, c = 8 seconds, d = -3 ms-1 |
