Make sure you are clear avout the different effects that
changing a, b, c or d can have on the shape and position of the
curve.
- a affects amplitude
- b affects frequency
- c changes the horizontal
position
- d changes the vertical position
A note about graphic calculators A graphic calculator may be allowed in your exam. The TI-83, or
similar model, can display cubic graphs for you.
Select the Y=
screen: Enter Y1 = y = A((BX-C)3+D) Then select the
GRAPH screen. You can then choose different values for the constants A,
B, C and D. For example, to make B = 1, press 1
