Implicit differentiation 1 backmore
If an equation in x and y is given, where neither x nor y are the subject of the equation, then the equation is known as an implicit equation. Some examples:
x²+y² = 4, 4x + 6xy + 5y² = 0, sin x - 3cos y = 0.3
Such equations can be differentiated using adaptations of the chain rule and product rule.
