Here is a plot of some points from a sine equation.


What you should understand
When a=1 and b=1 the values of y = sin(x) are shown. In this case notice that: sin 0 = 0, sin 90 = 1, sin 180 = 0, sin 270 = -1, sin 360 = 0.
The values for sin(x) vary between -1 and 1.
If you choose a larger value for a, say 2, then sin(x) varies between -2 and 2. The value of a affects the amplitude of the graph.
