This is a new area of MathsNet. It is a growing collection of past Key Stage 3 SAT questions. Each one is in interactive form, giving the user the opportunity to answer the question and, if wrong, be given detailed steps on what the correct method is.

Questions are randomised to allow repetitive practive and an approximate difficulty level between 1 and 10 can be chosen. Within any topic you will often find more than one question type: be sure to click on more to find them.

Questions aimed at Level 8 are picked out in particular.

Each of the SAT papers tests the whole mathematics curriculum: number, algebra, shape & space and handling data. In the mental mathematics test you need to be able to recall and use number facts.

Paper 1 is a non-calculator examination, so you need reliable methods for mental and written calculations.

You can use a calculator on Paper 2. Go to the calculators page to check you know how to use yours.

To achieve a high level in mathematics, you should be able to:
complete calculations correctly, clearly showing appropriate working;
give reasons and explanations to back up your answers;
use units correctly;
use correct mathematical notation when setting out your work.
