You'll find a large collection of graph and curve images.
Graphic calculators

Visit graphiccalculator.com . Read about functions that will fool graphic calculators when plotting some curves. Visit the Philadelphia Graphing Calculating Committee, which aims to serve the Math and Science Community around the World

For an article about using graphic calculators, see Graphics calculators in the mathematics curriculum: Integration or differentiation?. A good discussion paper on the place of graphic calculators in Scottish education is at the Scottish NGFl site

The Mathematical Association are now hosting T3 (Teachers Teaching with Technology). The site offers professional development for teachers in enhancing their teaching by using handheld technology. They also develop materials, lobby to see this technology more widely recognised, and are developing a community that supports teachers in using it. In England, Wales and Northern Ireland this programme is co-ordinated on behalf of The Mathematical Association by its Professional Development Officer, Rosalyn Hyde.

For more academic resources, the papers presented to the discussion group at ICME 8 'Role of calculators in the classroom' are available.

TI Graphic calculators
Texas Instruments have reorganised their own large site where you will find downloadable files and activities, including some for middle school maths, and a lot for the high school classroom - in detail. A free interactive guide to the TI-82 and TI-83 is also available. and a Statistics Handbook for the TI-83. To access them you will need to register (for free) at education.ti.com.

They can be emailed at ti-cares@ti.com. To connect your calculator to a PC or Mac there is a cable and software available. The software, including a version specifically for the TI-83, is available to download from Texas Instruments at their TI-Graph Link page. Try It may be worthwhile having a look at TI's new InterActive! software too.

For an alternative, try The Unofficial TI calculators page for more stuff to download, or the calc.org site.
There's a new site devoted to the TI-83. Try this pre-calculus course using the TI-83.

Free multimedia tutorials for the TI-83, TI-73 and TI-89 are available at www.watchmeware.com covering starting up, notation, graphing, changing views and tables.
For TI resources from Scotland try madmaths.

Sharp calculators

There isn't much as yet out there on the Web, but you could try Sharp in the USA who are beginning to developing web material for the education world. For users in the USA only, see their resources at Sharp-USA.
At Reggie's EL 9600 page you'll find these programs:

  • Plotting Complex Functions
  • Differential equations (Runge-Kutta-Gill)
  • Calculating limits
  • Solving triangles
